BIDGO.CA: THE WINNING BID
Montreal, October 27, 2011 – In a complete overhaul of the Merkado.ca website, TINK proudly launches Médias Transcontinental’s new online auction site—BidGO.ca.
For nine months, some twenty TINK members worked in close collaboration with Médias Transcontinental’s new media and digital solutions development team to make this project a success. It is written in JAVA on the Liferay platform using SOA (service-oriented architecture) principles.
The new site has been online since early October and should contribute to an increase in transaction volume over the next three years. It replaces the old site’s “auction” section, but with a modernized look. The visitor experience is also enriched with enhanced search functions and alerts for new auctions. The new BidGO.ca website also foregrounds products and suppliers to boost their profile.
Other improvements worth pointing out include a simpler bidding process, additional purchase followup functions, product payment and delivery functions, display of bidder savings (in dollars and percentages), and enhanced transaction traceability.
Despite the tight timeline, the BidGO.ca site launch was a resounding joint success for TINK and Médias Transcontinental. BidGO.ca is the number one local online auction site in Canada, with a presence in most Canadian provinces concentrated particularly in Quebec, Ontario, the Atlantic Provinces, and Saskatchewan.
