Employee Profile - Grey Recanati, Project Manager
After more than fifteen years leading a wide variety of projects for companies such as BRP and nventive, Grey Recanati joined our team in May 2024, bringing along a collaborative, proactive, and results-driven mindset. Despite a busy schedule, this true team player took a few minutes to share what day-to-day life is like in our project office.
In a few words, how would you describe your role and your daily routine?
To put it simply, I make sure a project runs smoothly from start to finish. I ensure that the strategy and needs are clearly understood, and that each task is assigned to the right people with the right expertise, all the way through to final delivery.
More concretely, my role is about managing the "project management triangle", which balances three key variables: cost, time and scope. It's a real balancing act, because the level of importance given to each of these pillars can vary from one project to another. For example, some projects may have a non-negotiable budget, which means adjusting the timeline or scope. In other cases, a hard deadline must be met, which might require increasing the budget or reducing the scope.
In short, my day-to-day is all about adapting to priorities, juggling what's non-negotiable with what's more flexible. And sometimes, that means explaining to the client that choices have to be made!
According to you, what are the skills and qualities that a person must demonstrate to occupy a position like yours?
First of all, you need to know your way around Excel! Jokes aside, any good project manager has to be comfortable with planning and tracking tools like Microsoft Project, and able to manage agendas and shared calendars effectively. You also need a solid understanding of the different areas of expertise involved in a project. Without being a specialist, you still have to know enough about each field to assess whether the work is on the right track and quickly identify potential issues. Of course, it's also essential to anticipate risks and possible roadblocks at every stage of a project, and to plan alternatives to overcome them.
But beyond all that, I'd say the "soft skills" side of the job is just as important—if not more so! You need to bring people together, motivate them, and build trust, both with colleagues and with clients. That requires listening, intuition, diplomacy, and a strong sense of interpersonal intelligence to maintain good relationships across the board. On top of that, you have to stay proactive, strategic, and flexible, able to adapt to shifting priorities while finding solutions that meet both business goals and client expectations. In short, it's a role that calls for as much technical rigor as it does human finesse.
What do you appreciate about Tink, and what makes you stay?
What I appreciate most about working at Tink is collaborating with true experts in their fields (cybermetrics, web development, digital production, etc.). When all these areas of expertise come together around a project, the result is always something strong and high-quality, with that distinctive Tink signature. The combination of expertise and daily teamwork is really motivating, and everyone brings their own personality to the table—even behind a screen!
What makes it even more enjoyable is that my colleagues are able to anticipate challenges before they even arise. That allows me, as a project manager, to plan ahead and manage risks proactively before they turn into actual problems. Because let's be honest: it's rare that everything is perfect the first time around (if we lived in a unicorn world, maybe!). We know there will be adjustments, back-and-forths, and feedback, but with such a proactive and solid team, we're always moving in the right direction and delivering projects that meet our standards.
Finally, I have to highlight how motivating it is to work for an organization that's so open to evolving its tools and processes to improve our practices, and that welcomes ideas which can move the team forward.
What is your proudest professional accomplishment?
At Tink's last holiday party, I was given an award for my rigor. That truly warmed my heart! It's incredibly rewarding to receive that kind of recognition from my colleagues, especially since it's an area I've worked hard to improve over the years. It just goes to show that experience and sustained effort always pay off in the end!
For you, working at Tink means having the opportunity to...?
It means growing in a stimulating environment where expertise and teamwork are at the heart of everyday life. The hybrid work model never gets in the way of meaningful exchanges and good humor, and the moments spent at the office make team bonds even stronger.
It's also about collaborating with passionate experts who can all pull in the same direction to deliver solid, high-quality projects. This combination of talent, support, and camaraderie makes the work both challenging and rewarding.
What advice would you give to future employees in your field?
Don't be afraid to dive in, to cut your teeth on different projects, and even to make mistakes along the way. That's how you learn the most! Every experience counts, especially when it allows you to work across different areas of expertise and better understand their realities.
Be curious, ask questions, and always look for ways to anticipate needs and challenges. And above all, nurture your people skills: knowing how to communicate, listen, and rally others makes all the difference in bringing a project successfully to the finish line!
