My Digital Production Internship at Tink: A Great Opportunity to Turn Theory into Practice

After earning my Attestation of College Studies (AEC) in Website Design and Programming from Cégep de Saint-Jérôme, I had the opportunity to join Tink’s digital production team for an 8-week internship in web design and integration. It was a great first professional experience, which even extended beyond the originally planned period!

Find out more about the skills and experiences I had the chance to acquire during this highly rewarding internship.

Why an intern at Tink?

My journey at Tink started with one goal in mind: gaining real, hands-on experience in the Web industry. At first, I was specifically looking for a web programming internship, but I quickly realized how competitive the digital field is—so many applicants, so few opportunities. That’s when I decided to broaden my search a bit.

It was during a conversation with Mickael Bourdon—a former student from my Web Design and Programming program at Cégep de Saint-Jérôme—that I first heard about Tink. He had just been hired as a designer/integrator on their Digital Production team, and he couldn’t stop raving about how great the environment was. His enthusiasm really got me curious! Even though the internship available at the time didn’t involve programming tasks like I initially wanted, I was still eager to jump on the opportunity. Thanks to Mickael, I was able to get in touch with Tink, and they offered me a 2-month internship, with the possibility of an extension.

I was super excited to get started and to finally bring what I’d learned in school into the real world with more concrete projects! That said, I didn’t know exactly what to expect, since it was my first real professional experience in the web industry. All I hoped for was to learn a lot, grow my skills, and have a great internship experience. And let me tell you… my expectations were more than exceeded!

What did I learn during my internship at Tink?

During my two-month internship—and the extra weeks I stayed on afterward—I worked on mockups and web/email integrations for various Metro Group projects in both the Quebec and Ontario markets. These tasks gave me the chance to get familiar with several new tools and platforms I had never used before, like the SAP ERP system and different content management systems (CMS), including the one we use internally for Metro projects. I also got to apply a lot of the programming and integration concepts I’d learned in school in a much more practical setting.

But beyond the technical side of things, this internship really taught me how to collaborate as part of a team and manage my time and priorities in a more professional environment. One thing I quickly learned: don’t be afraid to ask questions and take the time to fully understand what’s expected of you. No matter where I end up working in the future, those soft skills will always be valuable!

Who would I recommend this internship to?

I’d recommend this internship to anyone who wants to learn and gain real-world experience in a super welcoming environment. Everyone at Tink is ready to help and support you. This was such an amazing opportunity for me, and now I really hope to join the team full-time so I can keep growing in such a friendly, inspiring, and dynamic workplace!
